CONTINUING EDUCATION

The Conference provides up to 12.5 hours of continuing education and the Institutes provide an additional 8 hours of continuing education for the following professional categories:

Attorneys: The program has been approved by the California State Bar for continuing legal education for MCLE and CFLS. Any fees due the California Bar will be the responsibility of the MCLE applicant. Program applies to CFLS certification in the following required topics – dissolution of marriage, mediation, custody of children, psychological and counseling aspects of dissolution of marriage, problems of domestic violence.

Minor’s Counsel: The program meets the requirements for continuing education for minor’s counsel under California Rules of Court, Rule 5.242 ( c ).

Psychologists: The program has been approved by AFCC National Organization for continuing education, as required by the California Board of Psychology. AFCC (parent organization) is approved by the American Psychological Association to sponsor continuing education for psychologists. AFCC (parent organization) maintains responsibility for the program and its content. Psychologists are supplied a certificate of attendance and self report to MCEP.

LCSW and MFT: The program has been approved by L.A.S.C. for continuing education, as required by the California Board of Behavioral Science. Superior Court of Los Angeles, Family Court Services, BBS provider number 1725, is a sponsoring agency for this conference and will maintain responsibility for records for attendance and verification and archive attendance records.

California Child Custody Evaluators and Mediators: The program has been approved by A.O.C. for continuing education, as required per California Rules of Court 5.225, 5.210 and 5.518. The views expressed are those of the presenters and do not necessarily represent the official positions or policies of the California Judicial Council or the Administrative Office of the Courts.

Domestic Violence Training*: There are two opportunities for custody evaluators and mediators to obtain the requirement for four hours of Domestic Violence Update Training/ Spousal or Partner Abuse pursuant to California Rules of Court 5.230: the Pre-Conference Institute I3 (4 hours), or the combination of Plenary P1 (0.5 hour) Plenary P2 (1.5 hour) and Workshop W9 (2 hours) during the conference.
