Shannon Minter
Shannon Price Minter is the legal director of the National Center for Lesbian Rights, one of the nation’s leading advocacy groups for LGBTQ people and their families. Shannon is a transgender man and one of the most senior transgender attorneys in the LGBTQ movement. Shannon was lead counsel for some plaintiffs in the California marriage equality case and part of the legal team in Obergefell v. Hodges, the 2015 Supreme Court decision establishing nationwide marriage equality. He has served on the American Bar Association Commission on Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity and has received awards for his work from the National LGBT Bar Association, the Ford Foundation, the National LGBTQ Task Force, the American Bar Association, Cornell Law School, Stanford Law School, CUNY Law School, the Transgender Law Center, and the Department of Justice Pride Group. Shannon received a B.A. from the University of Texas at Austin and a J.D. from Cornell Law School. He lives in Texas with his wife Robin and many beloved rescue animals.
