Everyone involved in our family law courts has frustrations: it takes too long, Judges are too new, litigants don’t understand the process, kids are left behind. This seminar will bring together the conference attendees with a distinguished panel of Judges, attorneys, a legislator and lobbyist, to discuss “post Elkin” visions for the family courts in California. It will be a conversation — a facilitated change to design the Courts better — and see where we end up.

Learning Objectives:

  • To identify the goals of the family court from the perspective of the public and assess whether the Court is meeting those goals.
  • To gain an understanding of the resources challenges at the state and local level to improving service and access to justice in the family courts.
  • To gain a better understanding of the concerns, constraints, and contributions of the various stakeholders in the family court systems.
