This presentation, “Intergenerational Trauma in Chronic Conflict Families,” explores the pervasive impact of trauma within chronic-conflict family dynamics. By defining trauma and illustrating through case examples how clients reenact their traumatic experiences, the session highlights the cyclical nature of intergenerational trauma. Attendees will learn practical strategies for attorneys, mediators, coaches, and parenting coordinators (PCs) as well as parenting plan evaluators to effectively recognized, address, and manage the effects of trauma. The ultimate goal is to enhance the well-being of children and families by resolving conflicts in a trauma-informed manner, thereby breaking the cycle of trauma transmission across generations.
Learning Objectives:
- Identify key symptoms and behaviors associated with trauma in chronic-conflict family cases.
- Implement trauma-informed strategies to manage and resolve family conflicts effectively.
- Develop a collaborative approach among attorneys, mediators, coaches, PCs, & PPEs to support children and families impacted by intergenerational trauma.
