Abby Abinanti
Chief Judge of the Yurok Court Abby Abinanti was the first Native woman to pass the bar in California. Her career span has included California Legal Services, private practice where she focused on representing tribal communities under ICWA, and almost twenty years as a Juvenile and Dependency Court Commissioner with the San Francisco Superior Court before her appointment to the Yurok Tribal Court. Her court has become the model for other tribal communities where she has generously provided time and energy to assist in the establishment of their courts.
