Mindy Mechanic
Dr. Mindy Mechanic is a clinical and forensic psychologist and retired professor in the Department of Psychology at CSUF. Her work focuses on the psychosocial consequences of trauma and victimization with an emphasis on violence against women. Dr. Mechanic works as a consultant/expert witness in cases involving interpersonal violence, such as battered women’s criminal defense cases, prosecutions for sexual assault, intimate partner violence, child sexual abuse and stalking. She also works in civil suits involving trauma and family law cases involving IPV. Dr. Mechanic educates factfinders about “counterintuitive victim behavior” to disabuse them of misinformation that may lead to victim-discrediting behavior.
