Shuray Ghorishi
Shuray Ghorishi is a senior attorney at Family Violence Appellate Project (FVAP). FVAP is the first-ever nonprofit organization in California dedicated to providing free appellate representation to survivors of domestic abuse in civil appeals and writs. To date, she has worked on nine cases that resulted in published appellate decisions. In 2018, Shuray was honored with a California Lawyer of the Year (CLAY) Award in family law for her work on the Priscila N. v. Leonardo G. (2017) 17 Cal.App.5th 267 case. In addition to her appellate practice, Shuray provides training and technical assistance to family law practitioners on trial matters, including post-trial and post-motion remedies. Prior to joining FVAP, Shuray gained trial and appellate experience as an associate at Stoel Rives, LLP and Wolfe Wyman, LLP. At those firms, she worked on many pro bono matters involving family law, domestic violence law, and probate law. Immediately before joining FVAP, she managed the legal services department at a domestic violence shelter in the Bay Area, where her practice primarily focused on trial level restraining order, support, and custody matters.
