This annual domestic violence update for professionals working in California courts includes summaries of key 2024 California and US Supreme Court appellate cases and new California statutes for 2025. Participants will be invited to comment during the presentation, exchanging ideas and practices. The section on preventing burnout and fostering resilience consists of a participatory exercise in dyads followed by reports to the larger group. The final section will include summaries of new social science studies about domestic violence; topics include impact of IPV on women and children, issues of IPV within the legal system, batterer intervention, etc. The panelists have presented this at the AFCC conference since 2016. The presenters include a judge with many years of court experience involving domestic violence, a former psychology professor whose work focuses on trauma and abuse, and a Certified Family Law Specialist who dedicates her practice to representing victims of domestic violence
